Q:Are there any long term hopes for control of Old World Climbing Fern (Lygodium)?
A: Extensive research on biocontrols is being conducted and to date, two biocontrols have been released. Additional biocontrols are being evaluated with an additonal relase of thrip in the summer of 2008. Long term control of Old World Climbing Fern may depend on an initial herbicde application followed by biocontrol maintenance of the fern at an acceptable level in natural areas.
